RAMDreams ~ About Us ~ The Moon King in Summer

The Moon King in Summer is a 27-minute animated fantasy film using clay puppets, handmade sets and outdoor locations in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The story is about three gecko girls who go in search of the moon to save their families' homes. The moon has been missing for weeks and without its light, their parents cannot spin the silver they need to pay their greedy landlords. On their adventure, the children encounter a troll, some gnomes, a diminutive toll keeper, and finally the Moon King and his rebellious fingers and toes. The Moon King in Summer was an entry in a movie contest in Japan open to professional and amateur film makers in 2003. While we don't plan to release The Moon King in Summer online, we are considering developing some interactive media based on the Moon King in Summer story and characters.

Words from the theme song of The Moon King in Summer:

Silver and gold are precious and fine,
but none are as dear as this child of mine.
Coins are not put in a purse ripped and torn;
you must hold a child from the day he is born
in a hand that is firm, loving and true
for there to honor in how that child grew.

The moon rises bright in a sky that is clear.
Have your love shine on the ones you hold dear.
Teach them and guide them, provide them a chart
to be with them always engraved on their heart.
Raise up a child in the ways that are just,
that the world may be blessed with a true one to trust.
